Linking Hope are about strengthening links between organisations and individuals who are affected by suicide and suicide bereavement.
From: Jo Garvey
‘Linking Hope’ was set up following the success of Derby and Derbyshire’s Baton of Hope last September.
Their mission is simple: ‘to strengthen and connect organisations that support people affected by suicide and suicide bereavement. They believe that no organisation should be working in isolation, and no community should be left without help’.
The aim is to create a space for like minded individuals, charities, and organisations to come together and to support each other in what is often a challenging space – mental health and suicide prevention.
This first meeting was about finding out what we want, and need, to help us support those we serve better. Their aim is not to waste time reinventing the wheel but to facilitate opportunities for learning, sharing, and developing. They aim to ‘bring people together, raise profiles, share learning, and fund projects that make real difference’.
We did a lot of focused and purposeful talking with lots of ideas recorded on post it notes for the Linking Hope team to analyse and use as the foundation of this new network.
I’m excited about the future of this group and I’m hopeful about the change we can effect by working together for our common aim: to change and save lives.
