A privilege to participate at this year’s event
By Jo Garvey
This is the second year WTF have attended this event and we were not disappointed. Staff and students are very welcoming and the event is very well organized and run by committed and dedicated staff.
The event is an opportunity for parents and careers of students at the college to learn about the support that is available to themselves and their young people.
Staff bring students on their Pathway to Learning programmes to visit and they all spend time talking to each provider about their services. It’s a great opportunity not just for WTF to share what we do, but also for the students to practice talking to external providers developing their communication skills and building their confidence.
This year was a little different as it gave students the opportunity to present themselves to prospective employers- a kind of job fair but in reverse. I met so many amazing young people with impressive CV’s that I came away wanting to employ quite a few of them – if only we could!
Students also provide and serve the refreshments – always a highlight!
