The first visit to Chesterfield Pride for WTF and so much achieved – an excellent day!
What a great day we had at Chesterfield pride! It was our first visit and we will definitely aim to go back next year. Despite early hiccups (signposting was rubbish) we got set up in the perfect spot – right next to the stage, between Mentell and Derbyshire LGBT. Our gazebo helped us stand out too and I was really proud to see WTF there supporting all young people. There was great music (we had a bit of a boogie to some classic disco sounds), fab food, and again brilliant conversations with people of all ages. I met people I’ve only ever met on zoom meetings – and there is definitely potential there to develop what we offer to young people in Erewash and Amber Valley. It was especially moving to have conversations with two mums, who have also lost their sons to suicide, and who are both devoting their life to improving lives for others. There are some incredible and inspirational people in our world and I’m lucky to have met two of them today. Chesterfield Pride you were awesome! Thanks for having us!
