Volunteer Role Description – 45 club deputy/back-stop
The 45 Club was set up by a young volunteer with the sole ambition of improving the well being of local young people (11-25) and preventing young suicide and has just achieved Mentally Healthy Sports Award.
There is one 45 Club meeting each month and takes place in our local area. We’re blessed to live so close to beautiful and safe areas for socialising and exercising.
There are opportunities for the 45 Club to collaborate and meet with other like minded local groups too.
Being part of the Will Garvey Trust Foundation Team will provide the successful volunteer with the following opportunities:
- develop their leadership skills
- improve organisational and management skills
- become part of an energetic and compassionate team
- Walk Leader and MHFA training
This role is integral to the safety and success of the 45 Club.
Role description
- Work closely alongside the 45 club Lead
- plan and lead (if needed) suitable walks and runs with knowledge of local routes or willingness to understand and adapt to them
- Promote the 45 club on social media and by word of mouth
- Co-lead the sessions to work with the group to be as safe as possible
- Report any incidents using WTF policies to 45 club Lead and CEO
- Follow the WTF safeguarding protocol
- Seek out collaborative partnership opportunities
- Identify ways to improve attendance for new and existing members
- Embed the ethos of the Mental Health Friendly Club agreement
Essential requirements
- Flexibility and availability – Commitment to 1 hour per month (scheduled Tuesday evening)
- DBS checked
- An approachable, enthusiastic, supportive and inclusive individual
- Someone who promotes and empowers positive mental health
- Understand and apply the charities’ values
- Organising and listening skills
- Car or means to attend events across Erewash, Amber valley and South Derbyshire
- Knowledge (understanding) of links between physical and mental health
Preferred but not essential
- Has a good understanding of accessible needs
