WTF had a fantastic day at this year’s Well Dressing Festival
The sun was out, there were loads of stalls and activities, and a lovely buzz around the village. We had a stall and shared information about the organsiations available locally that can help young people when their mental health begins to affect their life.
We spent much of the day in conversation with lovely people and notice there is a pattern emerging in all the conversations we have:
- young people still don’t know what services are available to them;
- the waiting between referral and appointment is difficult;
- people still believe that suicide only happens to other people.
Opportunities like those at the well dressing are invaluable to WTF to be able to share information and offer support and we’re very lucky to have our stall.
The beauty of this event is that we can do really positive work in the community whilst enjoying the sounds of local bands like Pigeon Pie and Ged Addictive, and appreciate performers like Dynamo Motif and Sullivan Sword’s Morris Dancers. Thank you also to West Hallam Community Pre-School who chose to support WTF by donating the funds raised at their well, Elmer the Elephant.
