Willfest 21 – plenty of surprises at our wonderful annual music and friends day

Willfest 21 – it was better than we thought possible!

What better way to end the summer holidays, and start the new academic year, than with live music, good food, great beer, and even better friends, than at Willfest 21!

It was a fantastic day and exceeded every single one of our expectations: there were more people than we’d imagined, the weather was warmer than had been forecast, and the bands were just as good as they’ve always been.

2 fifths of Baltimore Jacks, new to Willfest this year, got the day off to a cracking start, with some popular favourites, accompanied by some soulful sax playing.

SPG carved out a new ‘Legends’ slot for themselves with an early set and managed to get the crowd dancing and singing, almost before the first pint had been drunk! They set the tone for the rest of the day – it was pretty much non-stop till the final rendition of ‘Wonderwall’ by our very own Supergroup.

Our one disaster was losing our headline act, Kingfisher Blue, to covid, (everyone’s ok) but thankfully ‘In Parallel’ stepped up and filled the slot brilliantly.

Thank you to everyone who came, to everyone who played, to the local businesses (Oakfield Farm, Thorley and Son Brewery) and all who supported from afar.
