The first WTF 5k Memorial Run

The first WTF 5k Memorial Run – and it won’t be the last!

On Saturday 29th October, WTF hosted its first 5k run inspired by Wayne Haslam, who contacted us because he wanted to support a local charity whose mission was close to his heart. Wayne ran 100 miles, from Ilkeston to Skegness, on a night when the wind and the rain was against him and made his challenge all the more difficult. He was incredible!

The 5k run was a circular route along the Nutbrook Trail from the Stute. There were 50+ runners who all received a goody bag, and there were spot prizes for things like fancy dress and special numbers.

Even as runners were finishing, they were asking us to do it again. It’s on the agenda for the Events Committee!

Thank you to the Stute for hosting us and to Chris and Helen Chambers for organsing and everyone else who helped out in any way on the day.
