Running 5k for WTF, such fun!
By Janine Eyre
Our 2nd WTF 5k run took place on Sunday 15 September 2024, this time at the Nutbrook Cricket Club and along the Nutbrook trail. It was a lovely family day with a mixture of runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities, and quite a few four-legged friends came along too. The weather was fairly decent and we had a good turnout.
Our organiser Chris Chambers did another great job with the organising and planning and thank you to his wife Helen and their daughters for their support on the day too. And, not forgetting the marshals who gave up their time to help the runners and walkers navigate the route, although some or our participants took a slightly alternative direction (but we won’t mention any names)!
We met a lovely family recently bereaved by suicide who had travelled all the way from Yorkshire and were wonderfully supportive of the charity and the event. A heartfelt thank you has been given to them for their generosity on the day. One of the family member’s workplaces has offered to match the total raised which is fantastic as we raised over £700.
All in all, I think we can agree that our 2nd annual 5k charity run was another great success and well worth the effort. As always, we thank our wonderful team of volunteers for their efforts and valuable time in helping at this event.
