WTF join in at Bennerley School Summer Fair
By Jodie Cook
On Saturday 6th July, I accompanied Jo to Bennerley Fields School Summer Fair. We support the school as part of our Wellbeing Libraries Project, with books and resources tailored to young people with additional needs. We were given an incredibly warm welcome and it was a wonderful experience as my first school visit in my new role.
We had a very busy few hours ( I managed to keep away from the cake stall) and Jo had some meaningful conversations, signposting people to mental health services whilst I chatted to the young people. We gave out information to parents and the wider community whilst engaging the children and young people in decorating CDS.
The activity was well received and the young people produced some beautiful art work which they were able to take home and display.
This school’s values are ‘Nurture, Support, Aspire and Achieve’. Everyone there demonstrated these in bucket loads. It was a real privilege to represent The Will Garvey Trust Foundation giving out mental health information and supporting suicide prevention.
